Denis Lemieuxhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01049723287624178155noreply@blogger.comBlogger3125tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6668594987436792920.post-52425588233978420582013-11-29T17:16:22.047-05:002013-11-29T17:16:22.047-05:00Catherine, I will leave Satan out of this for now ...Catherine, I will leave Satan out of this for now I think I am trying to understand how two significantly different truths given directly by God could both be true and I guess I was wonder if the evil one was in there somewhere.

Within monotheism there can be only one to which we all aspire but do we all get there. If the “Bill” you speak of was a Non Catholic Christian I can follow you thinking but more is going on here. If we give equal respect to the Truth of Islam as to Christianity then Islam is also a fullness of truth received directly from God. Jesus is not needed for Islamic salvation. Islam rejects Jesus as God, rejects God as a Trinity, and knows our scripture to be corrupt and not to be read. Paul speaks to this in 2 Cor 11:4 “Common sense”, tells me there is something amiss here. You suggest that” Islamic Bill” just doesn’t have all the facts which I conclude to mean you see their God given Truth as incomplete. Our Church has turned to a list of commonalities outlined in Nostra Actate which is not a Dogmatic statement of Catholic belief but items which could lead to better relations, a goal of Vatican II, looking past the tradition of heresy Popes have made in the past about Islam. It is hard to conclude the Teachings of Islam about God offer a picture of the same Being who is delineated in orthodox Catholic teaching. I sum with your statement, “At what point do two individuals, seem to be looking at the same reality, conclude they are actually talking about two different things? “ Islamic teaching in countries controlled by Islam or where Muslims are in such numbers as to separate themselves from the prevailing culture, are drifting to violence and hate of Christianity and is a factor in answering your question. I am speaking here of Islam not Muslims who like Catholics come in all degrees of orthodoxy and good will. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. This is at least a radically different truth if not a different thing. I would say that, of course true love and mercy are not tools Satan could use. What he could use, and I think does use, are travesties of these things - indifference to good and evil instead of genuine mercy, sentimentality instead of love, 'peace at any price' instead of real vigorous unity. Well, I'm sorry but this I do not understand.

I just don't believe that God's will is so easily thwarted by human frailty, folly or even intransigence. I believe that , although each one of us is capable of rejecting, the offer of grace, that God has made the offer rather easy to accept, more fully gratuitous than any of us can imagine it to be.

I want to write more- but it is late and I am tired.

Bless youCatherinenoreply@blogger.com
